Hong Kong police have arrested a man for allegedly stealing the credit cards of two passengers aboard an inbound flight from Bangkok on Tuesday.

The force on Wednesday said the passengers discovered their personal belongings missing from the overhead compartment and suspected theft.
Police received a report on Tuesday and arrested a 55-year-old man.
The suspect, from mainland China, was detained on suspicion of theft and remained in custody as officers from the force’s airport district continued their investigation.
In September, two mainland Chinese men were arrested on suspicion of stealing passengers’ property valued at HK$40,000 (US$5,100) on flights from Malaysia and Switzerland to Hong Kong.

The city recorded 169 cases of cabin theft on inbound flights in the first 10 months of 2024, involving property worth HK$4.32 million.
