On January 3rd, the U.S. carried out a large-scale operation against Venezuela, capturing President Maduro and his wife. Maduro will be tried in the U.S. Now, people are focusing on the significant aftermath of the event. Many observers are looking at the long-time supporter of Maduro, or rather his “financial backer” or “debtor”—the Chinese Communist Party.
Regarding Maduro’s arrest, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the evening of January 3rd, expressing “deep shock” and “strong condemnation.” The next day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanded his “immediate release.” On the same day, Chinese state media, Xinhua, published an article condemning the U.S., calling it “blatant hegemonic behavior.”
