Investigating China’s $110K Premium EVs: Owners Locked In, Doors Jammed, 3 Self-Ignitions in A Day

This is from a video posted on May 24 by a Zeekr car owner in Hefei, Anhui Province. The owner claimed they were stuck inside the car for over ten minutes and couldn’t open the doors. He eventually had to call for rescue, and someone had to open the door from the outside.
Zeekr is a high-end electric car brand launched by Geely Holding Group, established in 2021.
According to Chinese media reports, as of April 25, 2023, Zeekr had delivered over 100,000 cars. By January 8, 2024, they had surpassed 200,000 deliveries, making it the top-selling high-end electric car brand in China priced above 200,000 yuan.
Currently, Zeekr’s 009 series has pushed the price to a new high. The Glory Edition of the 009 series is priced at a staggering 789,000 yuan. Is it worth it, given that this price far exceeds that of joint venture brands?
