Authorities said the blaze broke out on Ha Tsuen Road in Tin Shui Wai at 12.40pm on Tuesday and was upgraded to a No 3 alarm fire less than an hour later at 1.33pm.

“Residents affected by smoke and odours carried by the wind are advised to close their windows and doors, and remain calm,” a Fire Services Department spokesman said.

A government spokesman said that one person had been sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.

“Firefighters are using two jets and mobilising two breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze,” he added.

Posts circulating on social media show thick plumes of smoke billowing from the warehouse and flames raging inside.
