Further actions concerning Chau Tin-yu’s case were revealed on Tuesday, a day after her father, Eddie Chau, said on social media that police informed him the Department of Justice would not proceed with criminal prosecution.

According to a letter sent by the force to the father, the department deemed there would not be any reasonable chance of a conviction in court after it reviewed evidence, relevant laws and standards of proof.

“I am extremely disappointed with the result, but I will not give up on seeking justice for Tin-yu,” said the father of the girl who died in March last year.

Tin-yu was four when she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer, and had chemotherapy and radiotherapy which shrank the tumour to a size suitable for removal.
