How can Hongkongers protect against and report illicit upskirt photos?

A recent crackdown by Hong Kong police on a syndicate that allegedly sold illicit upskirt images for a profit of about HK$4 million (US$512,000) has raised the alarm over the prevalence of such crimes in the city.

1. What happened in the recent case?

Police said on Wednesday that they had arrested six men and four women for allegedly operating a social media group that sold upskirt photos of women.

The officers found over 15,000 illicit images and videos in the chat group, including some 2,000 of uniformed female students. The total amount of content is still being determined.

The 10 suspects, aged between 20 and 62, include an unemployed couple who are believed to be the masterminds of the syndicate.

Four of the other suspects were responsible for taking the photos and videos, while four more were immediate family members of the couple who had lent their bank accounts to process the funds.
