According to an insider, officers arrested the pair on Monday, at Kwai Chung Plaza, a shopping centre and private housing estate in the Kwai Tsing district.

The force said they had arrested a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman for committing an act that had a seditious intention under the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, assisting offenders and possession of dangerous drugs. It is unclear what the social media posts were about.

“An investigation revealed that between October 2020 and October 2025, the arrested man was suspected of publishing posts that have seditious intention through the social media account of the store that he owned multiple times, as well as funding activities that endanger national security,” a police spokesman said.
