Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Park will conduct its largest capacity exercise yet on Friday, with around 63,000 participants expected to test the maximum attendance at three venues.

Authorities also said on Wednesday they would review entry and exit arrangements, and transport conditions. It would also simulate various scenarios, including emergencies.
Joe Chow Yat-ming, deputy police commissioner for operations and the exercise director of the Interdepartmental Task Group on Test and Drills, said the maximum capacity of the Kai Tak Stadium, Kai Tak Arena and Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground was 63,000.
“The main purpose of the drill is to assess the capacity of the sports park and the nearby facilities including public transport and the Central Square when hosting events with maximum attendance,” he said.
“According to this exercise’s nature and scale, as well as the potential crowd and traffic situation, our task group has also designed various incident scenarios.

“Drawing from past experiences, we aim to identify potential risk points to enhance safety levels and draft different contingency plans.”
