A popular exhibition featuring the MTR Corporation’s classic rail carriages in Hong Kong will include the historic cross-border intercity “KTT” train for the first time, after a previous showcase attracted 70,000 people.

The KTT, which ran for decades on a century-old line between Hong Kong and Guangzhou, was replaced by the high-speed rail.
The MTR Corp said on Friday the “Station Rail Voyage” exhibition at Hung Hom terminus drew more than 70,000 visitors in eight months and would be relaunched from next week to the end of this year.
Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan, who officiated a ceremony for the exhibition, said: “The KTT holds valuable historical significance and I am delighted to witness its inclusion in the ‘Station Rail Voyage’ exhibition, allowing the public to immerse themselves more comprehensively in the history of Hong Kong’s railway development.”
She said the government and the MTR Corp would further push railways as the backbone of the city’s public transport system.

From Thursday next week at Hung Hom station, the KTT showcase will be opened to the public along with three retired trains and a collection of 100 railway artefacts.
