Featuring items loaned from the National Museum of China in Beijing, “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: United in Arms, Standing for Peace – 80th Anniversary of Chinese Victory in the War of Resistance Exhibition” will run at the Hong Kong Museum of History in Tsim Sha Tsui as one of a range of activities commemorating the efforts.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department said that it was not concerned that the show would overlap with another exhibition opening later this week at the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence in Shau Kei Wan.
“The exhibition is one of the highlights of the commemorative events for the anniversary, which can help enhance residents’ sense of patriotism,” Hong Kong Museum of History director Joyce Ho Wai-yee said on Tuesday.

Of the 183 items on display, 82 are from the Beijing museum’s collection, including eight grade-one national treasures. The remaining 101 exhibits are from local collectors and cultural heritage institutions, which were bolstered by the Hong Kong Museum of History’s collection.

About one-third of the artefacts are being exhibited in Hong Kong for the first time, according to the organiser.
