Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Observatory predicted that the mercury would drop to 13 degrees Celsius (55.4 Fahrenheit) on Friday.
The weather forecaster said on Tuesday the accumulated rainfall for the first two months of the year was 30.3mm (1.2 inches), which was only about 42 per cent of the 72.1mm recorded in the same period last year.
In February alone, the total rainfall recorded at the Hong Kong Observatory headquarters was 26.1mm, about 33 per cent below the normal of 38.9mm.
In a separate nine-day weather forecast, temperatures over the coast of southern China were expected to fall progressively in the week, with the mercury plunging to a minimum of 13 degrees on Friday due to the influence of the northeast monsoon and its associated broad band of clouds.

“The weather will be rather cool over the coast of Guangdong in the latter part of this week. It will be cold over inland areas. The monsoon is expected to be replaced by an easterly airstream early next week,” the observatory said.
