A Hong Kong police officer was found on Sunday with a gunshot wound to his head at a marine unit regional headquarters.
A force spokesman said the male officer was found collapsed at the marine police regional headquarters at Sai Wan Ho, in the east of Hong Kong Island, in the afternoon.
The senior constable was pronounced dead at the scene, a source said.
Police said the circumstances of the death were under investigation.
The Hong Kong Island regional crime unit is in charge of the inquiry.
