The force received a report at around 8am on Saturday after staff at the Aldrich Bay Playground discovered underground pipes were missing.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 5cm by 25cm (2 inch by 9.8 inch) wire fence at the site was damaged and three sections of copper water pipes, with a total length of about 110 metres, were stolen.

Police classified the case as theft and will investigate. No arrests have been made.

The stolen copper water pipes were located from different areas of the park, according to local media.
