The force on Saturday evening confirmed that an arrest had taken place on Thursday after a resident filed a report at around 2pm that the bird had been injured by a man throwing a stone at a playground in San Po Kong, Kowloon.

Concern group Hong Kong Pigeon Research said on social media that a member had seen an elderly man in an orange shirt attack a pigeon sitting in a tree at Shung Ling Street Playground.

The pigeon fell to the ground after being struck and died about 45 minutes after the police report was filed.

The group said it also saw another man throw a stone at a different pigeon at around 2.15pm but the bird managed to escape uninjured.
