The Immigration Department said on Thursday it had immediately offered assistance to the woman upon receiving a call from her family members, promising to keep in touch and follow up on the incident.
Taiwanese media reported that the Hong Kong tourist was seriously injured after the taxi that she was in crashed into a traffic island at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Sunday.
The passenger and the cabby were sent to a hospital for treatment.
According to local police, the driver deviated from his carriageway several times on the way to the airport, with authorities suspecting his poor state was what led to the accident.

While the driver sustained minor injuries, the passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time, was seriously injured and was found to have a cerebral haemorrhage upon examination.
