A source said on Sunday that the university’s board would meet on Friday of this week to discuss the nomination. If approved, he will succeed biomedical scientist Professor Rocky Tuan Sung-chi to lead the institution from January 2025.
Lo, who is famed for pioneering non-invasive prenatal testing, would be offered a five-year term with a pay package similar to outgoing university head Tuan, the source said.

“Lo has spent quite a long time with the university and he has been widely recognised for being serious and fair at work,” the insider added.
Lo is currently the director of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences, and the associate research dean at the university’s medical faculty.
