In an updated statement issued in the early hours of Wednesday, the smallest of the city’s carriers apologised to all the affected passengers, saying flights during the coming Lunar New Year holiday would not be affected.
“Due to the delay in new aircraft delivery and the need for regular inspection for some of our existing aircraft, our overall flight schedule has been impacted, resulting in cancellations of 128 flights or 64 round trip flights in February and March 2025 involving approximately 5,500 passengers,” it said.
“We express our sincere apologies to all the affected passengers … We understand that flight rescheduling will cause inconvenience to passengers who have already purchased their tickets.”
The company said it had been “proactively” contacting affected passengers to rebook or refund their tickets with all related fees being waived, as well as to get compensation for the loss incurred by the cancellations, while allocating more staff to its customer service centre to handle rescheduling.

The carrier also announced plans to suspend its “unsatisfactory” route between Hong Kong and Seoul, admitting fault in its flight scheduling process and promising to “seriously learn” from the setback. The service operated three times a week from January 2023.
“An internal review in this matter has been carried out immediately and negligence was found in our flight scheduling process. We have also taken immediate action to tighten up the relevant approval procedure for flight scheduling,” the airline said.
