Hong Kong police are searching for a fishing boat captain who fell into the waters off Lamma Island when his vessel collided with an oil barge.

The force said it was notified of the incident at 5.21am on Sunday, adding that six other crew members had been safely recovered after their boat sank.
“Six of them have been rescued. They mostly reported chest pains, headache, and bruises on their limbs,” a police spokesman said.
But the force added that it was still searching for the boat’s captain, a man in his eighties.
The six crew members were all sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment.

The Fire Services Department, marine police and the Government Flying Service were also brought in as part of rescue efforts.
