A 14-year-old boy was rescued on Thursday after heavy smoke filled a public housing block in Hong Kong’s Kwai Chung, prompting more than 50 residents to evacuate the building.

Police said they had received multiple reports since 7.41am of a suspected fire at Block 8 of the Kwai Shing West Estate public housing estate.
The boy was believed to have inhaled dense smoke and was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Lai Chi Kok after firefighters rescued him from a flat.
The heavy smoke also forced more than 50 residents to evacuate the building.
Police said that a preliminary investigation by firefighters found no evidence of a blaze, adding that nothing suspicious was discovered in the case.
