The 31-year-old fencing star retired last year and has since joined the club as an assistant external affairs manager.
A source said that Kong suspended her duties on Saturday.
In response to the Post’s queries, the club said that it supported the eighth Legco election and encouraged staff to vote on polling day.
“Employees may exercise their civic right to stand for election to the Legislative Council, but the club will not participate in their election campaigns by any means,” it said.

It said it would not comment on an individual employee’s candidacy.
