The Hong Kong Observatory said the minimum temperature logged at its headquarters in Tsim Sha Tsui was 10.6 degrees, the lowest this season.

“An intense winter monsoon is bringing cold and very dry weather to the coast of southern China. The band of clouds covering the region is thinning out gradually,” the forecaster said.

“Until 7.30am, the minimum temperature recorded at the Observatory was 10.6 degrees, the lowest so far this winter.”

A cold weather warning issued by the Observatory on Sunday is still in effect, while a red fire danger alert was raised on Monday morning.
