Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and the Li Ka Shing Foundation are planning to offer another round of free trips for domestic helpers to the theme park this year, as the attraction’s net profit of HK$838 million (US$107.8 million) hit an all-time high last year.

Disneyland managing director Michael Moriarty said on Tuesday that the two parties were planning more sponsored trips for domestic helpers following a strong response to the two rounds of visits in January.
A total of 4,200 domestic helpers each received a one-day ticket, a transport allowance of HK$80 on their Octopus cards and meals valued at HK$365. The ticket costs were shared between Disneyland and the foundation.
“We will work with them on something special,” Moriarty said when revealing financial performance details for 2024 and this year’s plan to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The net profit in the year ending September 30, 2024, was compared with a net loss of HK$356 million a year earlier. This meant the theme park on Lantau Island returned to profit for the first time in a decade.

“It was an extraordinary year,” Moriarty said. “The performance exceeded our expectations.”
