Hong Kong cyclist, 68, rushed to hospital after crashing following suspected heart attack

An unconscious cyclist was rushed to hospital after crashing his bicycle following a suspected heart attack in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Sunday.

The 68-year-old man lost control of his bicycle while riding with a friend from Tai Wai to Pak Shek Kok Cycling Promenade at around 10am, police said.

“The man is believed to have suffered a heart attack while cycling,” the force said.

Based on preliminary investigations, the force added, the man lost consciousness and crashed. The case has been referred to the force’s New Territories South traffic department.

The man, who was wearing a helmet, sustained injuries to his face, hands and feet, and was unconscious when an ambulance arrived at the scene.

He was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin for treatment. The Post has contacted the Hospital Authority for further information.
