Amidst intense competition for job opportunities in China, Zhenye GAO, who pursued his master’s degree at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), HKUST(GZ) for short, has recently started his career as an algorithm engineer at Tencent, a world-leading internet and technology company based in Shenzhen, after his graduation.

He attributed his success greatly to the academic reputation of HKUST(GZ), located in Nansha district of Guangzhou, capital of South China’s Guangdong province.

“As a high-caliber international university, HKUST(GZ) is highly regarded for its academic reputation, especially among tech companies in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area,” he said. “And the full-year internship, the Data-Centric AI program designed for my master’s degree, has allowed me to engage deeply in the entire lifecycle of real corporate projects.”

Xiao ZHOU, who has graduated from the HKUST(GZ) Red Bird MPhil Program, a master’s degree in philosophy program designed by the University to achieve the goal of cultivating “compound innovative and entrepreneurial talents”, has chosen to continue his research into intelligent robotics at Oxford University in the UK. He said that HKUST(GZ) provides an outstanding academic environment and full resource support for self-driven students, making it an excellent platform to engage with the world.
