Four sources told Reuters that GM executives have instructed their thousands of suppliers to remove Chinese parts from their supply chains, with the ultimate goal of fully withdrawing from China.
GM started issuing these directives to certain suppliers at the end of 2024. However, according to insiders, the urgency of this task intensified during the early spring of this year when the U.S.-China trade conflict escalated. GM executives explained that this is a key part of the company’s strategy to enhance supply chain security and resilience.
