Floods in Indonesian capital Jakarta displace thousands – ‘all my belongings are gone’

Thousands of people were evacuated from parts of Jakarta on Tuesday after heavy rain caused flooding around the Indonesian capital.

Torrential rain triggered floods as deep as 3 metres (9.8 feet) in and around the city, blocking some roads and submerging more than 1,000 houses and many cars, according to the country’s disaster agency.

Officials predicted the severe weather would continue for several more days.
