The ex-husband of slain model Abby Choi Tin-fung was told to flee Hong Kong under the guise of holding a junk party in the middle of the sea, before being picked up by another boat, prosecutors revealed in a hearing for two suspects accused of helping him.

Prosecutors also shared video recordings on Monday that showed the WeChat records of Alex Kwong Kong-chi, who has been charged in a separate case over Choi’s murder, including a group chat with defendants Irene Pun Hau-yin, Lam Shun and a woman identified only as Ivy.
Pun, 31, and Lam, 43, earlier pleaded not guilty to a joint charge of conspiracy to pervert the course of public justice.
A voice message sent by Ivy’s account was heard in court, and said: “One friend replied saying the safest way is that you book a junk party to go somewhere in the middle [of the sea], then I ask some boat company in Macau to pick you up.”
Pun and Lam, a yacht rental agent at the time, are suspected to have helped Kwong in an unsuccessful escape attempt on February 25, 2023, the day after Choi’s dismembered remains were discovered in a three-storey village house in Tai Po’s Lung Mei Tsuen.

Ivy, a Macau resident, was also named in the trial but was not listed as a defendant. She is accused of conspiring with the two defendants in attempting to help Kwong escape.
