The board said on Wednesday it would promote various tourism hotspots and spending offers to stimulate consumption during the mainland Chinese holiday that runs from October 1 to October 7.

“The Hong Kong Tourism Board has also further stepped up promotions in mainland markets to attract visitors to come to Hong Kong during the golden week holiday and experience Hong Kong’s diverse and rich tourism offerings,” board executive director Dane Cheng Ting-yat said.

The government announced on Tuesday that more than 400 events would be held to celebrate National Day, with some featuring the number “75” as this year will be the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.

One of the highlights is the board’s drone show titled “Galloping Horses”, scheduled for 8pm on September 28 at the Wan Chai waterfront. It will feature well-known references to local culture and recreate the famed works of late Chinese artist Xu Beihong, who was known for his paintings of horses.
