The White House, meanwhile, has a Rapid Response team that actively works to respond to contesting narratives and explain the administration’s accomplishments.
The National Democratic Party has launched a new initiative called the “People’s Cabinet” to counter the Trump administration.
Ken Martin, chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), said the goal is to “cut through the lies” and speak directly to the American people.
“I’ve been traveling across the country nonstop since I started this job, and what I hear over and over is this: Americans want us to challenge Trump’s lies, offer a better alternative,” Martin said in a video statement on April 4.
According to Martin, the People’s Cabinet will be filled with experts, national and local leaders, and everyday Americans who will “fight back” against President Donald Trump’s agenda. The Cabinet will conduct media briefings and host town halls across the country.
Democrats have been battling Republicans who gained control of the U.S. Senate, House, and presidency in the 2024 election. The GOP trifecta paved the way for Trump to shore up the congressional support needed to successfully implement his agenda.
Democrat lawmakers have publicly opposed Trump’s policies, including major cost-cutting by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The advisory panel, led by SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, has targeted government waste and fraud, leading to cuts in the federal workforce and the elimination of many government contracts.
“Trump has stacked his Cabinet with out-of-touch billionaires and know-nothing loyalists who are wreaking havoc on the lives of working people across this country, with total disregard for the harm they’re causing our families—from stripping away their health care coverage, to jacking up their costs at the grocery store, to putting the lives of service members at risk,” Martin said. “The People’s Cabinet is made up of experts, leaders, and everyday Americans from across the country who will equip communities with the reliable, accurate information they need to fight back against the worst of the Trump and Republican agenda.
Martin also recently announced a new DNC War Room “to compete in every information space and put Trump and the Republicans on the defense every day,” according to an April 7 post on social media platform X.
NTD News reached out to Michael Whatley, chair of the Republican National Committee, for a response to the DNC’s new initiative but did not receive a response by publication time.
On the Republican side, the White House has already established a Rapid Response team that actively works to respond to contesting narratives and explain the administration’s accomplishments. According to its official account on social media platform X, its goal is to support the president’s America First agenda and hold the “Fake News” accountable.
Meanwhile, protests across the nation were held over the weekend to oppose how Trump is running the country. The “Hands Off!” demonstrations were organized at more than 1,200 locations in all 50 states by civil rights organizations, labor unions, LGBT advocates, veterans, and election activists.
