Dare Try a Chinese Buffet? Fake Beef, Leftover Seafood, Even Addictive Poppy Shells

Recently, news about a seafood restaurant in Rizhao, Shandong, recycling leftovers for resale has caused a stir on Chinese social media.
Mr. Quan also mentioned deceptive practices in the restaurant: on one occasion, when a customer ordered a live lobster, the staff would take it to the kitchen, then replace it with a similar-looking frozen dead lobster from the freezer, making the customer believe they were served the live lobster they chose. The same trick was used with other types of fish, replacing live ones with frozen dead ones before serving them.
