Craving art, music and theatre this Christmas? Here’s what to see in Hong Kong

The festive season is upon Hong Kong, and as in past years, the city offers an array of cultural events for residents and visitors – from ballet to theatre and music.

While unmistakably Christmas-themed events are available, some offer an alternative for those who want to spend their holidays in a slightly different way.

The Post highlights some of the shows worth catching over the holidays.

Family-friendly performances

The Hong Kong Ballet’s annual performances of The Nutcracker mark the fifth anniversary of the city-inspired version created by the group’s artistic director, Septime Webre, featuring local elements, from dim sum to racing jockeys.

The shows, staged at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, opened on December 12 and run through Boxing Day, with tickets priced from HK$180 to HK$1,200 (US$23 to US$154).

For those craving a touch of snow – the cinematic kind, at least – Frozen in Concert with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra offers a family-friendly escape into a wintry fantasy, bringing all the beloved characters from the Disney animation to life.
