Chinese National Sentenced to 87 Months for Attempts to Ship Meth to Australia

A Chinese national has been sentenced in Los Angeles to more than seven years in U.S. federal prison for attempting to ship more than a metric ton of methamphetamine to Australia.
Li Jing Tang, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine in December last year. On July 24, he was sentenced to 87 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Wesley L. Hsu, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. 
Prosecutors alleged that Li was involved with a drug trafficking organization from February 2023 through December 2023, during which law enforcement officials inspected seven shipments destined for Australia and seized over 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds) of methamphetamine. …
