A 40-year-old man has stunned mainland Chinese social media by marrying just four hours after a blind date arranged by multiple matchmakers, subsequently depleting his entire savings of over 240,000 yuan (US$34,000) within a month of marriage.
Huang Zhongcheng, hailing from Hengyang in Hunan province, southern China, went on a blind date on the morning of August 21.
During the matchmaking process, nine different matchmakers introduced him to the same woman, who works in a beauty salon.

“On the way to the blind date, eight matchmakers suddenly appeared. Including the one from my village, there were nine in total recommending the same woman,” Huang told Hunan Broadcasting System.
The two met in person and registered for marriage four hours later.

“She insisted that we should finalise everything on the same day. So, around 5pm, we went to register our marriage. Everything happened so quickly. I was in a daze the entire day; I even told her, ‘Today feels like a dream,’” Huang recalled.
