Chinese Grab Everything: Buffets, Fruits, Flowers, Any Free Items—Even Toilet Paper

June 10th is the Dragon Boat Festival, and eating zongzi is a tradition among Chinese people on this day. Many communities across China hold zongzi wrapping competitions to celebrate. As soon as the ingredients were laid out, the community ladies rushed in, suddenly feeling no back pain or leg aches. They were sharp-eyed and quick-handed, eagerly grabbing handfuls of rice and stuffing them into their bags. They didn’t spare the bamboo leaves either, taking them all. Some even took the rice bowls, and a few got into scuffles over the rice, ignoring the security guards’ attempts to intervene. The event turned into a chaotic scene with rice and leaves scattered everywhere. What was supposed to be a joyful Dragon Boat Festival celebration became a battlefield for the ladies, leaving onlookers shaking their heads.
