Following the initial 10% tariff increase on Chinese goods in February, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed an additional 10% tariff, which took effect on March 4, citing fentanyl-related issues.
Many Chinese businesses had already been relocating their production lines to Southeast Asia in an effort to avoid Trump-era tariffs by ensuring their products were not labeled “Made in China.” Vietnam has emerged as a key destination in this industrial shift, with a growing number of Chinese manufacturers setting up factories there.
