On the afternoon of July 29, a highway bridge over a river in Ning’an City in Heilongjiang Province, collapsed completely into sections during severe flooding. The bridge deck first cracked and sank in the middle. Then massive structural blocks and guardrails fell into the water below. Authorities detected the hazard early and closed the road. This prevented any casualties.
