China’s Not Rich Anymore, Luxury Brands Now Sell Coffee – Can’t Buy A Bag, Buy A Coffee Instead

On March 31, Italian luxury group Prada opened its first independent dining space in Asia, called “Obsessed with Prada Rong Zhai,” in Shanghai. This is part of its latest effort to respond to the slowdown in China’s luxury market. Prada isn’t alone. Other luxury brands are also jumping into the coffee business to create buzz and attract attention.
Back in February, another Italian luxury group, Armani, opened the first Armani Caffè in Beijing under its flagship brand Giorgio Armani.
