The Chinese-developed QBZ-191 automatic rifle has sparked a lot of doubt and criticism. This gun was supposed to replace the QBZ-95 automatic rifle, but it didn’t really offer much of a performance boost. Since there were no major breakthroughs in propellant technology, a shorter barrel was used to meet the overall length requirement of the rifle. This, however, resulted in a lower muzzle velocity, shorter range, and reduced power. In actual combat, the QBZ-191 is even less effective than the upgraded QBZ-95-1. It’s only good for controlling crowds but can’t stand up to the U.S. military.
