On the evening of June 16, around 9 PM, urgent shouts broke the quietness of the village. A local official in Pingyuan County located in Meizhou city of Guangdong province, was alerting everyone to evacuate immediately. The village had just received an emergency flood discharge notification from the authorities, indicating that it was in the flood discharge zone. Villagers quickly began to evacuate.
