China’s $70B Fake Streaming Empire Collapses, Exposing Mega Influencers Faking Hardships

A bold, rural woman known as Sister Yu from Northeast China captivated short video platform audiences with scenes of rugged farm life. She was carrying half a pig, stacking pigsties, and hauling firewood. Her powerful, hands-on lifestyle earned her the nickname “Wolf Warrior Li Ziqi,” a reference to her fierce approach. Li Ziqi is a renowned Chinese content creator for her videos that showcase traditional rural life in Sichuan Province. Sister Yu could carry a hefty pig home alone for a backyard slaughter, showcasing rows of large vats where she stored meat for winter. Adding to her appeal was the stark contrast between her and her husband, “Lao Kuai.” While she took charge of everything from cooking to heavy farm work, Lao Kuai came off as a “little wife,” often reluctant to help, preferring naps, and constantly haggling over money. This contrasting dynamic quickly amassed her a fanbase of 24.5 million.
