Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said China’s position on the Ukraine war had been “rational” and that Beijing was willing to work with parties, such as Europe, to play a “constructive role” as others, including the US, sought ways to resolve the conflict.

Wang told his British counterpart David Lammy at the 10th UK-China Strategic Dialogue in London on Thursday that developments in the Ukraine war “have validated the rationality and constructive nature of China’s stance”.
“China welcomes all efforts aimed at promoting peace talks and supports the establishment of a balanced, effective and sustainable European security framework to ultimately achieve lasting peace and stability in Europe,” he said, according to a Chinese readout.
“China is willing to work together with all parties, including the European side, to continue to play a constructive role in this regard.”
Western nations, including Britain, have aired growing concerns over China’s position on the Ukraine war and its support for Russia. Beijing has not condemned Moscow’s actions in Ukraine.
