China twin sisters and brothers hold joint engagement ceremony, captivate millions online

A pair of twin sisters and a pair of twin brothers in China held an engagement ceremony on the same day, captivating millions of viewers on mainland social media.

Over four million people on Douyin, the mainland version of TikTok, marvelled at the video footage showing the couples, who looked alike and wore matching outfits, during the ceremony held on February 5 in central China’s Hunan province.

The video was shared by the couples’ matchmaker, surnamed Liu, who is the 22-year-old twin brothers’ cousin-in-law and the 18-year-old sisters’ godmother.

Liu revealed that she introduced them in February last year. The elder sister quickly began dating the elder brother, while the younger sister later formed a relationship with the younger brother.

The sisters, based in their hometown in Hunan, also visited the brothers, who were working in eastern China’s Zhejiang province.
