In a violent escalation in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo, a newly opened Chinese district was ransacked, looted, and set on fire within hours. According to local reports, on September 25, large-scale protests led by youth erupted in the city. The protests initially focused on long-standing issues like power outages, water shortages, and inadequate public services. However, by nightfall, the situation turned violent, with looting, arson, and mass theft from local businesses. In response, the government imposed a curfew and dissolved the cabinet in an attempt to restore order.
