China Hit by Year’s Most Destructive Typhoon, Half a Million Evacuate, Less Than 10 Days After Last

Super Typhoon “Ragasa” has just passed, and now another powerful typhoon, “Matmo,” is approaching. It made landfall in Guangdong and Hainan on October 5, with seawater flooding several areas.
According to the Beijing Central Meteorological Observatory, Typhoon “Matmo,” the 21st typhoon of the year, made landfall around 14:50 on October 5 at the eastern coast of Xu Wen County in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province. The maximum wind speed near the center was 14 levels, and the lowest pressure was 965 hPa, making it the strongest typhoon to hit Guangdong this year.
