A Chinese civil service examination training company sparked controversy after its teaching material was found to have sexist content.

“If you do not work hard, your daughter will be in the arms of people of your age; if you work hard, you will have in your arms the daughter of people of your age,” it read in a slideshow presentation organised by Huatu Education.
The slogan implied that the daughters of people who did not work hard enough to achieve high social status are destined to be the wives or mistresses of older men who have money.
Conversely, those who work hard to become influential old men are entitled to take the young daughters of unsuccessful people as their wives or mistresses.
