China Can’t Pay Soldiers, Government Out of Funds! Mass Veteran Rebellion, Creating Chaos in Beijing

In the videos circulating online, many demobilized soldiers are seen holding banners, blocking the entrance of the State Bureau, stretching as far as the eye can see. Their banners read, “We can’t afford healthcare, we can’t support our families,” indicating the protests stem from unpaid wages and poor resettlement arrangements. Strangely, despite the scale of this petition, the government has yet to take action. In the past, any large-scale petitions would inevitably be met by the Special Operations Forces to suppress them. Yet, in this video, the police are unusually “gentle,” even thoughtfully maintaining order for the protesting crowd, seemingly afraid of this group that once wielded “guns.”
