The four-day celebration will feature musical performance’s from the American Idol winner and the Village People, along with other prominent events.
President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration is expected to see a star studded lineup, with some of the former president’s musical favorites set to perform next week.
According to drafts of the inaugural program, country star Carrie Underwood, along with three other performers, will take the stage during Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said.
“I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future,” she continued.
Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful,” and will be accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
Additionally, country singer Lee Greenwood, opera singer Christopher Macchio, and the 1970s disco group the Village People will join the American Idol alum on stage.
The Village People will perform at two separate events, notably at the inaugural ball and during a D.C. rally a day prior to Trump being sworn-in.
The group, best known for their hit “Y.M.C.A.,” took to social media to announce the news, reaffirming their music is not geared toward a specific audience and is “to be performed without regard to politics.”
“Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost,” they wrote in a Facebook post.
“Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump.”
Meanwhile, Greenwood, who also sang for Trump before being sworn-in back in 2017, is set to perform as Trump walks out to take the oath of office, with Macchio will sing his rendition of the National Anthem per Trump’s request.
Over a four-day celebration, the 60th Presidential Inaugural Ceremony will feature a number of prominent cabinet receptions and firework displays, a Make America Great Again victory rally, parade, prayer service, and much more.
“These special events will honor the rich history and tradition of our great nation, the American people, and the promise our country holds for future generations,”read a statement from the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee schedule.
President Joe Biden is planning to be in attendance, and incoming First Lady Melania Trump will also join for tea with the Bidens as part of all the festivities.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to begin before noon Eastern time on Jan. 20 at the U.S. capitol.
