Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po is delivering his budget speech at 11am on Wednesday and is expected to announce measures to cut public spending and boost revenues to tackle the deficit.

Chan earlier revealed the 2024-25 deficit would be about HK$100 billion (US$12.9 billion), more than double what he expected at the beginning of 2024, and marking the third consecutive financial year of recording a loss.
