Recently, a vlogger visited The Palace in central Beijing and found that most of the businesses, from the restaurants on the basement level to the clothing and luxury stores on the ground and first floors, had closed or were undergoing renovations. This area is part of Beijing’s CBD, yet the business conditions were so poor that many establishments had to close down. This highlights the severity of the decline in consumer spending in Beijing.
