The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) said on Friday it had issued legal proceedings in the District Court on behalf of the accuser, adding it hoped the case would raise public awareness of illegal sexual and racial harassment acts in the workplace.

Khan Saima Begum alleged that her former employer Tsui Pui-hung at WT Law Offices, where she worked as a part-time law clerk from around March 2021 to February 2022, addressed her using offensive Hindi words.

She also accused Tsui of calling her “Paki”, an insulting term referring to people from Pakistan and other South Asian countries, as well as telling her all “Paki” were dishonest people and “crooks”.

The accuser claimed that her request for Tsui to stop using such terms went ignored.
